Former Tonight Show Host Broke Two Ribs and Cracked Kneecaps in a Motorcycle Accident

On January 2023, comedian Jay Leno suffered severe injuries in a motorcycle accident after riding a vintage motorcycle from his vast collection of vehicles.

In an interview with a Las Vegas Review-Journal, Jay Leno revealed that he was driving a 1940 Indian motorcycle when he noticed the smell of leaking gas.

He turned down the street and decided to go through a parking lot. Unfortunately, a person had a wire tied from one pole to another that didn’t have a flag hanging from it, making it impossible for Leno to see. The wire clotheslined Leno in the neck, knocking him off his motorcycle.

Vintage Car Bursts into Flames Leading to Serious Burns on Jay Leno’s Body, Hands, and Face

The motorcycle incident where Jay Leno broke bones and ribs was the second accident in the last three months, with the first being a garage fire accident in November 2022, where he suffered serious face and body burns.

Gasoline Fire Sends Leno to the Hospital for Nine Days

Leno was working on a vintage car, a 1907 White Motor Co. steam-powered vehicle, with his friend when he noticed a clog in the fuel line. He blew some air into the line, causing the gasoline to burst onto his face. The horror story unfolded when the pilot suddenly lit, leading to gasoline fire on his face and body. Leno’s friend immediately tried to smother the fire with his body.

He spent nine days in the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles to treat third-degree burns before returning to his standup show at the Southern California club.

About Jay Leno: Rise to Media Stardom

When the longtime host Johnny Carson retired in 1992, Jay Leno was the perfect host to take his place. However, NBC replaced him with Conan O’Brien in 2009 but brought him back in 2010 after the show’s ratings dropped.

Leno worked until 2014 with NBC, until Jimmy Fallon replaced him. However, CNBC immediately brought Leno as the star of a new show, “Jay Leno’s Garage,” where he shares his love for classic cars.

Who Is Responsible for the Jay Leno’s Motorcycle Accident?

In the “Jay Leno seriously injured in motorcycle accident months after garage fire” incident, Leno explains how he fell from the vehicle after the wire without any flags or warning signs clotheslined him off his motorcycle.

There needs to be a proper investigation into the incident to help determine why there was a wire between two poles, whether there were any warning signs, and who was behind it. Was it a private construction company or a government entity closing off an area for maintenance works?

An investigation can help identify the liable party and if there is a valid personal injury claim. If Leno suffered injuries due to another’s negligence, he might be able to pursue a personal injury claim against the negligent party.
